There is no doubt that English will  become increasingly important more and more in the future because of recent globalization in these years, also because lot of foreigners come to Japan from abroad or Japaneses travel overseas, and lastly because of the use of English as in-company official language for many Japanese companies.

In Paris it could be a daily scene a story like this: a Chinese asks, “Could you please take me a picture?” and a Japanese answers, “Yes, sure”  then they start a small talk from there.   Throughout the world, when people with different mother tongues come together they commonly use English to communicate.

When foreigners see Japanese culture imagine that Japan is a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, being this a unwelcome reputation as the most Americanized country in the world. 

We have received a strong cultural influence from America for better and for worse. Japanese language uses many words of foreign origin, especially those coming from English, and also Japanese people learn English for long-term (for about 10 years), including the compulsory education.  For that reason it is not particularly difficult to read and to write for a Japanese people. Therefore, Japanese people have a sufficient basis of English, and could not be considered a complete beginner in the language in almost all the cases.
