文化的側面としては、建築家ガウディ作による世界文化遺産、バルセロナのサグラダファミリアを筆頭に、各都市有数の近代建築や、ピカソやダリといった独創的な芸術家を輩出し、世界中のアートを志す人々に少なからず影響を与えている点が先ず挙げられます。

他にも文化的に有名なものとしては、全国民が熱狂するサッカー、情熱的なフラメンコとギター、料理ならパエリアやトルティージャ、トマティーナ（トマト祭り）や牛追い祭り、闘牛、シエスタに1日5回の食事etc...スペインだけでもこれだけ独自性を持ち魅力に溢れるところなのですから、ラテンアメリカ諸国も含めると、スペイン語に関わるということは学ぶべき要素が多種多様で、もう本当にいくら時間があっても足りないくらいです。

キューバのサルサ、アルゼンチンのタンゴ、ペルー・インカの遺跡、マチュピチュ、エクアドルのガラパゴス諸島（日本独自の規格で作られ、グローバルな視点では有用でない電子機器等に対してガラパゴス化という表現も使われますね）、チリ・イースター島のモアイ像、美人大国ベネズエラ！とキリがありません。正に見どころ満載です！

スペインに話を戻すと、人口約4300万人、日本の約1.3倍の国土を抱え、大きく分けて3つの気候区分がありそれぞれ気候が異なります。カンタブリア海沿岸は雨が多く夏は涼しく冬は温暖な海洋性気候。マドリードがあるイベリア半島中央部は、夏に暑く冬は寒い大陸性気候。地中海沿岸地域は年間を通して温暖で乾燥している典型的な地中海性気候です。

地方公用語としてカスティーリャ語、カタルーニャ語、バスク語、ガリシア語があり、歴史的にも各地域の独自性、方言が強く、例えばガリシア語*Gallego（ガジェゴ）はポルトガル語との共通点が多く、ラテン語を起源とする他言語とは異次元のバスク語等、似て異なる言語と言えるでしょう。

スペイン国外、イスパノアメリカ諸国やアメリカン・ヒスパニックのスペイン語は、アンダルシア方言との共通点がいくつか見られ、特にアンダルシア中部の方言によく類似しています。主なものとして、vosotrosと二人称複数の動詞活用の不使用、seseo、ustedの優勢使用などがあげられ、これらは新大陸のほぼ全域で見られます。スペインによる新大陸の植民地の獲得後、アンダルシア中部からの移住者が多かったためだと考えられています。

También hay otros iconos culturales dignos de destacar: los españoles son fanáticos por el fútbol, el flamenco y la guitarra, la paella y la tortilla de patatas como comidas típicas, la Tomatina (Festival de tomate), las corridas de San Fermín, las corridas de toros, la siesta, las 5 comidas al día, etc. Todo esto considerando solamente España nos muestra un país encantador y original, pero si se agregan los países Latinoamericanos podríamos aprender muchas más cosas, y el tiempo no nos alcanzaría para mencionar todo!...

La salsa de Cuba, el tango en Argentina, las ruinas incas de Machu Picchu en Perú, y las islas Galápagos de Ecuador (en Japón existe la expresión "galapagonizado" para referirse a productos electrónicos que tienen aplicación sólo en Japón pero no en el resto del mundo), los moais de las Isla de Pascua (Chile), las personas lindas de Venezuela, son algunos ejemplos de las tantas cosas que se pueden descubrir en el continente americano.

Volviendo a España, este país tiene 43 millones de habitantes, es 1,3 veces del tamaño de Japón.  Se puede dividir en tres regiones geográficas con climas diferentes. El litoral cantábrico es muy húmedo, en verano es fresco y templado en invierno con un clima marítimo.  El centro de la península Ibérica donde se localiza Madrid, es muy caluroso en verano y frio en invierno (clima continental).  El litoral del Mediterráneo, durante todo el año es seco y templado (clima mediterráneo).

Cada región en España tiene su originalidad incluso en la lengua.  Las lenguas oficiales en España no son sólo el español de Castilla-La Mancha (castellano), sino también el catalán, el vasco y el gallego.  Este último tiene un parecido con el portugués.  El vasco, en cambio, es una lengua completamente diferente de las otras tres lenguas que son de origen latino.

Fuera de España, el español que se habla en los países hispanoamericanos tiene algunos puntos similares al hablado en Andalucía, especialmente del centro de Andalucía. Por ej.  en Latinoamérica no se usa “vosotros” en la segunda persona plural y se usa en su lugar "ustedes". También existe el "seseo" y el "Usted" se aprecia en todo el Continente Nuevo.  Esto se debe a que en la época de la conquista de América muchos inmigrantes provenientes de esa región de España migraron al Nuevo Mundo.  

Tanto los españoles como los latinoamericanos son personas simpáticas, de gran corazón y apasionados.  Por eso ¿Por qué no intentar conocer esta cultura tan rica?
